Family Promise of Lake Houston’s Chicks and Hogs Event Returns for 12th Annual BBQ Cook-Off and Brew-Off 

HOUSTON, TX – Family Promise of Lake Houston would like to announce it is the Twelfth Annual Chicks  and Hogs BBQ and Brew – Off fundraising event, presented by Varel Energy Solutions, happening  Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Harley-Davidson of Kingwood located at 111 Northpines Drive,  Kingwood, Texas 77339, the fun starts at 2:00 p.m. At this year’s Chicks and Hogs BBQ Cook-Off and  Brew-Off fundraising event we’re aiming to raise $50,000 to benefit homeless children and their families  in our immediate area.  

Chicks and Hogs, presented by Varel Energy Solutions, will include a BBQ Cook-Off Competition, Local  Brewery Brew-Off Competition, Silent Auction, Wine Pull, Live Music by the Dallam County Band, Kid  Zone (complete with climbing wall), two chance drawings for $5,000 cash sponsored by the Edward Jones  Foundation, as well as local Celebrity Judges announcing this year’s BBQ Cook-Off and Brew-Off  winners! Mark Linabury, President and CEO of Great East Montgomery County Chamber, returns as our  master of ceremonies and we couldn’t be happier! This year’s Brew-Off will feature FOUR local breweries:  Lake Houston Brewery, DECA Brewing Company, Ingenious Brewing Company, and Back Pew Brewing  Company. Early bird tickets for the event are available for purchase today until September 19th on  Eventbrite (www.tinyurl.com/chicksandhogs22) for $20 which does include a BBQ sandwich. Ticket prices  go up to $25 on September 20th. Biergarten tickets are $15 and available for those over the age of 21. Kids  under 12 are free. Those interested in competing in our BBQ Cook-Off can also register their team using  Eventbrite and our BBQ Cook-Team Coordinator will reach out with more information. 

In addition to our Cook-Off and Brew-Off there will be plenty of fun for the kids. There will be inflatables,  carnival games, dunk booth, face painting and climbing wall. Onsite there will be a concession stand where  BBQ sandwiches, chips, candy, water, and soda will be available for purchase. Throughout the day Chicks  and Hogs will host performances from local high school dance teams and bands in addition to closing out  the night with a live performance from the Dallam County Band.  

All proceeds from Chicks and Hogs benefit Family Promise of Lake Houston raising funds to support our  programming which provides daily support and educational programs for 90 to 120 days that lead each  family to permanent self-sufficiency. Trained volunteers bring in home-cooked meals, spend time reading  and mentoring the families and providing a safe and warm environment for them to spend the night. Family  Promise of Lake Houston also provides a two year After Care Program for all our graduates to enhance  their success.
