The Promise House will provide vital programs designed to give families a path to sustained independence.
We are pleased to announce that we have finalized construction plans, the land is cleared and we are on target to begin construction of the Promise House.
Purchase a brick and help us build the Family Promise House.
Normally, families have to give up a loving part of their family when they enter a shelter program, their family pet. We are partnering with PetSmart to build a dog/cat condo at the Promise House so pets can remain a part of the family - which has proved to be an additional motivator for success!
Grow & Eat Well
Families will learn how to grow and prepare fresh nutritional meals for their families. We are building four Mittleider Gardens and a Teaching Kitchen that will have volunteer teachers, nutritionists, and chefs. Our families will learn how to grow herbs and vegetables, cooking techniques and how to make the most of their budget.
Fast Track GED
This program will be open to the public two nights per week. We will partner with HAAM to find eligible applicants who can complete the program and we will offer childcare on-site for parents that attend.
Peer to Peer Tutoring
Local High Schools Seniors (Atascocita, Humble, Kingwood, Porter) in the Social Action and Key Clubs will participate in one-on-one tutoring for children in our community from 3rd - 7th grade. Volunteer students will meet after school two to three days a week for 2 hours to work with their "Study Buddy" helping with homework and STAR Testing preparation.
The Mighty 250 is a special group of individuals and businesses that donates $1,000 or more towards the Promise House. Each donor receives a beautiful 12x12 brick on the Walk of Success. There are currently 27 members of the Mighty 250 – so only 223 spaces left. Please consider becoming a Mighty 250 Donor and help us build the Promise House.
